Black Magic Martini & Bonita Berries – “Hocus Pocus”
That old black magic has us under its spell and before you start saying it’s witchcraft, it’s more likely the spell of a perfectly-crafted cocktail paired with Hocus Pocus, one of our fave flix. It’s scary how good this mixed drink recipe is! This drink might not make you stay young forever, but at least you don’t have to wait for a virgin to light a candle in order to enjoy another berry delicious Halloween.
- 2 oz. black cherry juice
- 2 oz. vodka
- A spoonful of Fancy Sprinkles Edible Rhinestone Silver Prism Powder®
- Bonita Berries, for garnish
Place the black cherry juice and vodka into a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake for 30 seconds before pouring.
PRO TIP: Add a spoonful of Fancy Sprinkles Prism Powder to the bottom of the glass before pouring your cocktail. If you want more shimmer, add more prism powder after you’ve poured your drink and stir to combine.
CANDY PAIRING: There’s no hocus pocus here! Our Bonita Berries are a magical match for this martini. These juicy little nonpareils bursting with blackberry and champagne flavors go together with vodka and black cherry like witches and black cats. Spear a row of Bonita Berries (also featured in our 3 Piece Sugar Skull Candy Bento Box®) and place over the top of your cocktail for a special touch.
Witch, Please Cocktail & Red Roses –“The Craft”
While your coven will have to get together virtually for now, you can still invoke the spirit of the season (and of happy hours) with this cocktail. Pair this drink with “The Craft” for a dash of teen girl angst and a splash of spellbinding spook. Revenge is sweet, but our Witch, Please Cocktail is sweeter. Warning: This cocktail may become a new cult classic with your favorite witches.
- 2 oz rum
- 1.5 oz of raspberry liqueur
- Fresh raspberries
- Red Roses
Pour the rum, raspberry liqueur and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake well before straining into a highball glass.
PRO TIP: If you like your cocktails on the cooler side but don’t want to dilute it with ice, consider adding frozen raspberries.
CANDY PAIRING: Here at Sugarfina, we follow the “bell, book and candies” way of thinking, and if our Red Roses are your new favorite candy, then they are the perfect treat for this delicious, fruit-forward cocktail. Put on your black hat, grab a handful of our Red Roses and get ready to shake things up.
Raspberry Sangria & Sugar Skulls –Day of the Dead
Nothing screams a Halloween classic like a George Romero flix, and Day of the Dead is the quintessential old-school zombie flix. Instead of hunkering down in a missile silo like the characters in the movie, you can hunker down in your cozy abode (where the cocktail cart is!). Your survival tool against these flesh-eating creatures? Our raspberry sangria! It’s bloody delicious and will pack a punch.
- 2 bottles of red wine
- 1/2 cup orange liqueur
- Sliced oranges
- Sliced pears
- Sliced green apples
- Sliced red apples
- Sliced raspberries
- Sugar Skulls, for garnish
In a large pitcher, place the sliced fruit and then pour in the red wine and orange liqueur. Stir to combine and place in the refrigerator for at least two hours before serving (if you like your sangria extra cold and have endless patience, chill for four hours before serving).
PRO TIP: Garnish with a blood orange slice, or a yellow marigold and some of our Sugar Skulls raspberry candies.
CANDY PAIRING: Make your Day of the Dead celebrations more festive with our Sugar Skulls, which are blossoming with flavors of strawberry, raspberry and cherry. They conjure up the perfect flavors to accompany our blood-red raspberry sangria.
Zombie Brains Brew & Zombie Brains—"Shaun of the Dead”
Will all this quarantining and social distancing, it’s starting to feel like we’re starring in “Shaun of the Dead”. So, it seems only fitting to include our Zombie Brains Brew as part of the Halloween lineup (it’s also a mocktail, so it’s perfect for all ages). “Shaun of the Dead” can provide you with all the rules you need to survive the zombie apocalypse, while our Zombie Brains Brew can provide you with what you need to survive another Zoom meeting. One sip will turn you from the walking dead into the life of the party!
- 46 oz pineapple juice
- 2 liters ginger ale
- Green food coloring
- Dry ice
- Zombie Brains
Grab a generous punch bowl and mix the pineapple juice and ginger ale together until combined. Then add a couple dashes of green food coloring. Before serving, place chunks of dry ice into the punch bowl for an incredibly chilling effect.
PRO TIP: We think that dry ice is probably colder than a zombie’s heart (about -109.3 F), so it’s important that you handle it with (s)care. Always use a towel or insulated gloves (for ex., oven mitts) when handling dry ice. Make sure you are also using food-grade dry ice.
CANDY PAIRING: Our Zombie Brains are to die for, so you better grab them before someone gobbles them up. They are the perfect garnish to liven up your undead celebrations!
Shark Bite & Sugar Lips – "JAWS"
“Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water!” While you never know what’s lurking beneath the surface, you never have to worry about that with this cocktail. Turn the heat up in your apartment, sport the bikini you didn’t get to wear this summer, lay a beach towel on the living room floor and kick back with this refreshing “Shark Bite” cocktail while watching the infamous classic, “Jaws”. Don’t worry! You won’t need sharp teeth in order to sink them into this deliciously festive rum-kissed cocktail. It’s a much-needed vacation for your tastebuds.
- 5 cups lemonade
- 3/4 oz white rum
- 3/4 oz spiced rum
- 1/2 oz blue curaçao
- 1.5 oz sour mix
- A spoonful of Fancy Sprinkle Teal Topaz edible Prism Powder®
- Watermelon chunks, for garnish
- Sugar Lips, for garnish
Fill your cocktail shaker with ice. Then pour in all the liquid ingredients. Shake well. Place a spoonful of the Fancy Sprinkles Prism Powder into the glass before pouring. Garnish and serve immediately.
PRO TIP: Serve this colorful drink in a larger glass (for ex., a Hurricane glass) so you can really show off (on Instagram, of course!) your deliciously boozy, shark-infested waters.
CANDY PAIRING: We can all agree that we’d prefer Sugar Lips to shark bites any day, and this perfect combination of kissably sweet and sour puckers combined with the sweet and sour blend of the cocktail will have you thrashing out of the water looking for more.
Recently Deceased Cocktail & Cranberry Cocktail Bears – “Beetlejuice”
We’re calling it: Time of deliciousness? Right now! This electrifyingly green cocktail is worthy of Tim Burton-esque antics. While we wish you could just say this drink’s name three times and it would instantly appear, this recipe is still shockingly simple to make. It’s the kind of drink you’ll want to enjoy all night or all Day-O.
- 1 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz melon liqueur
- 1/2 oz raspberry liqueur
- 1/2 oz blue curaçao
- 1.5 oz cranberry juice
- Cranberry Cocktail Bears, for garnish
Fill shaker with ice and add all ingredients. Shake for about 30 seconds before straining into your glass of choice.
PRO TIP: To get a layered look, pour cocktail (minus the cranberry juice) 3/4 of the way into the glass. Then take a spoon, lay it across the top of the drink with the bottom facing up, and pour over the cranberry juice (it will sink to the bottom of the glass).
CANDY PAIRING: We’re pretty sure that this cranberry cocktail garnished with our seasonal Cranberry Cocktail Bears will be enough to bring you back to life and revive your spirits. It might even make you want to yell, “Berry-juice!” three times.
Come over to the fright side…we have candy! Purchase your festive sweets for an eerie-sistible and spooktacular movie and cocktail night at home with Sugarfina.
